Directory |
|
There are numerous benefits of membership. Current members receive the annual Directory, which lists all members and contact information, the Section bylaws, award winners, plus a comprehensive list of advertisements from local businesses and services. |
| |
Bulletin |
|
Members receive the Bulletin, issued nine times a year, which reports on up and coming events and all current activities, projects and programs of the Section. |
| |
Programs |
|
Program offerings are one of the strongest benefits to members. Throughout the year, the South Cook Section offers a series of creative, educational and social programs for members. They include:
Opening Luncheon with the Gift Galleria |
Iris Dreyfuss Award Program |
Fall Program |
Israeli Affairs Event |
Judith Byer Mostovoy Advocacy Program |
Closing Spring Program with election and installation |
Book Clubs |
Yad B' Yad |
Major Fundraiser |

Volunteer Opportunities |
|
One of the most satisfying advantages of membership is the opportunity to be a volunteer for many of the projects and initiatives of the Section. Volunteers are welcome to help out in both behind the scenes supportive and administrative capacities and on the front lines. Volunteering as a reader, a tutor, or an art appreciation volunteer is possible at Garfield School in Chicago Heights, which we adopted in 2003. You can become a member of the Elyse Bell Traveling Players which performs locally throughout the year. We always need help at fundraising events throughout the year, especially Honey for the Holidays. Another way to get involved is to volunteer to be on a committee or chair a committee in an area of service that interests you. Serving on the Board of Directors or Executive Committee provides greater satisfaction for your efforts, since you are able to help form policy and direction for the Section. |

Book Clubs |
|
South Cook hosts two book clubs, the South Suburban Book Club and the Chicago Book Club. Clubs select the books they read and a member or guest facilitator leads the discussion. Book clubs meet monthly. Books to be read are posted in the Bulletin. |

Friendship Notes |
|
Friendship Notes are sent by the Section chairperson to South Cook members and their immediate families to recognize life cycle events. Members are encouraged to keep the chairperson informed of timely information. |

Tribute Cards |
|
Members are invited to purchase NCJW Tributes. A tribute is a thoughtful way to express oneҳ good wishes or condolences and, at the same time, support NCJW. Tribute cards are purchased by members and can be used when a significant event occurs. The card will indicate that a contribution has been made to recognize the recipient. Section tribute cards are priced at $5.00 on up. NCJW National also offers tribute cards in other denominations.
